Since the passage of the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools bond issue,
the Eastlake Girls Softball League has been actively involved in monitoring
the fate of the playing fields owned by the school district at North High School,
and utilized by our softball league for summer softball operations.
With construction of a new North High School scheduled to begin in the first
half of the 2017 calendar year, the Eastlake Girls Softball League Board
began researching alternative solutions to the possible loss of playing fields at this site.
Based upon our research and information derived from our most recent discussions
with the Willoughby-Eastlake City School district, the Eastlake Girls Softball League Board
has decided to suspend our 2017 playing season.
We encourage all players or coaches in our league to take this time to explore
other opportunities available over the summer. For those who wish to continue
playing girls softball, the nearby Willowick Girls Softball League is a possible option.
The Eastlake Girls Softball League Board will maintain discussions with the
school district as construction progresses. At this time, only two of the four
playing fields will be sacrificed to the construction of the new school.
However, it is way too early to determine if the remaining fields will be available
for softball operations during the summer of 2018.
Please be safe and have a fun, enjoyable summer!
